What is lights out?
Lights out is a grid of lamps. Tapping a lamp flips it and the lamps above, below and beside it. The goal is to turn every lamp off. Each tap undoes part of the last one, so you have to plan, not just tap.
In Witilo the puzzle is called Lights Off and is one of the 13 Logic games. You can try it on the home page of this site.
How to play in Witilo
Lights Off
Tapping a lamp flips it and its neighbours. Turn every lamp off.
How it gets harder
Every Witilo game has 50 levels, and you can always go back to an easier one.
- Boards grow from 3×3 to 6×6.
- The fewest taps a board needs grows from 2 to 12.
- From the expert levels you have a limited number of extra taps. Use them up and the board locks until you restart.
- Every board is made backwards from a dark board, so it always has a solution.
Questions
Is every lights out board solvable?
In Witilo, yes. Each board is made by tapping a dark board, so it can always be turned off again.
Is there a trick?
Tapping the same lamp twice changes nothing, and the order of taps does not matter. So the question is only which lamps to tap.
